Are the Northern Lights
not a mystery
Do they not show grace
Lights the sky
When the Sun is gone
And the little wills of men
Fear the dark

She is new blown snow
Unless I float without form
My steps will remain
love’s sweet creation
is a world we find within
music of the soul
Silver moss listens
For the approaching footfalls
As love on the wind …
How swift are the tides
rolling on shores
with wind weaving cattails
into sand dune dreams
Moonlight rises within the waves
having only the stars to decorate her love
Sparkles her crown in the indigo blue
Silver light shadows fall to the earth
Leaving as red sunlight wakes
stealing the dark
Melting the dewdrops into the day
like tears in the rain
Made to surrender
all the heart’s seasons unfold
witness to heaven falling to earth
waiting to waken her hand to behold
Come to me said she
Words in silence spoken still
Echoes sweet refrain
dreaming on the wind
waves roll in visions
clouds billowing past
in shadows of the moon
long horizons fade beyond
all we can imagine
ships sinking into waves
flowers drift past in reverence
to color the memories
of lives and loves lost
in the foolish attempts
to conquer our own hearts
~ For Doug in memory of his beloved Dorothy ~
Somewhere in time
is the place where our love
is written in pages unending
To turn in my mind
as real as the sunrise
your heart painting colors in me
Far from the morning
we’re dreaming together
walking in rhythm and rhyme
I still feel the Seine
keeping step with our hearts
reflecting her waves in your eyes
As the flowers all blush
in city of lights
while Angels gather amazed
To gaze at two lovers
one starry night
lost in a moment forever
Yes words can fill pages
tho’ never enough
to tell all the stories of us
Still always our stories
of love will surround me
with whispers felt soft in my ear
Hollow blue sky
forgotten rails under silver birds
listen to the red wings chatter
about living among wild berries
waiting for the black cherries
to ripen and ferment
songs of a drunken celebration
pacing with folded wings
alive with anticipation
of a party
among the pines
and the honeysuckle scents
drifting on the summer breeze
along with their song
