Tears in the Rain

‘Fire Island Sun’ – photo by gfs

How swift are the tides
rolling on shores
with wind weaving cattails
into sand dune dreams

Moonlight rises within the waves
having only the stars to decorate her love
Sparkles her crown in the indigo blue
Silver light shadows fall to the earth

Leaving as red sunlight wakes
stealing the dark
Melting the dewdrops into the day
like tears in the rain

Made to surrender
all the heart’s seasons unfold
witness to heaven falling to earth
waiting to waken her hand to behold

City of Lights

~ For Doug in memory of his beloved Dorothy ~

Somewhere in time
is the place where our love
is written in pages unending

To turn in my mind
as real as the sunrise
your heart painting colors in me

Far from the morning
we’re dreaming together
walking in rhythm and rhyme

I still feel the Seine
keeping step with our hearts
reflecting her waves in your eyes

As the flowers all blush
in city of lights
while Angels gather amazed

To gaze at two lovers
one starry night
lost in a moment forever

Yes words can fill pages
tho’ never enough
to tell all the stories of us

Still always our stories
of love will surround me
with whispers felt soft in my ear

circles of love

“Fragile” – Assateague State Park, MD – photo by gfs

lost in flight
some storm tossed bird
finding reasons
to return to
the air
how to hold on
to the unseen
feels the ether
guides on the wind
one sacred place
still to call home
folding her wings
in the night
waiting again to lift
what remains
of forever finding love

Eclipse of the Moon

Poipu, Kauai Lunar Eclipse

a memory of being
present
walking
in all the times
known to us
~ hidden
in the discontent
and all the chatter
surrounding the coming
and going from places
dreamed or planned
or happening to be
such are the days
where flowers bloom
and moonlit nights
where love shines
tides ebb and flow
heedless of our whims

Heart of the World

Seasons of green pass in the ocean breezes
Unattached to the palms
Waving hello … and goodbye
All at once though never lonely
Never wanting to cling

A warms sun shares her loving kindness
Beaming as if with pride
Sharing her glow of love
as a radiant dawn opening
painted in amber and orange watercolors

The flowers learn from the sky
They mimic the light
Creating their feast for the eyes

Light of the Soul

Treetops near Freeport, ME – photo by gfs

How can there be words
without the ears to hear them
the pages writ in spelling
all the ways to listen in

to time spent in the heart
digging through the ruins
of the days spent in between
the dark nights of the soul

All the wing-ed’s crossing o’r
soaring through the pines
a sky the eye somehow missed
whites wisps electric blue

drift away the day’s remains
drifts to the earth as letters
leaving what was willed without
the embers slowly fading
