Clouds

days are swirling
like canyon rivers
rushing from a storm
a thousand miles
of muddy water
silt settles in veins
of silver left for ages
in plain sight
undiscovered

why do clouds
block the sun
or blue swirls simmer
in shadows of a noon day
where love recalls
the weeping willow
and a riverbed
sleeping in the light
beside her

has the sky parted
or a veil of vapor
undone by the wind
left us alone
under its spell
holding our hearts
in the timeless dream
always tempted
to return to love
