The Harlot

From: 'King of Kings' ~ Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer ~ 1961

At noon a ghastly sight
before my eyes befell
a moment seldom ever seen
in tales the Ages tell

In filthy streets The Word was passed
a beggars bowl forsaken
lined in sorrow, madness still
refused to take the burden

Seven times The Word he spoke
seven mysteries unveiled
fulfilled the prophets testaments
t’is finished…, destiny sealed

Tears of blood upon the earth
committed to the tomb
wrapped with frankincense and myrrh
returning to the womb

Where was I, the question
when precious life was taken
the violet curtain torn
and Love was left forsaken?

I was in the Temple
with The Harlot in my arms
searching for another truth
lost in all her charms
