Dreams become us
we will our way
Into the winds
the Way we come to find
the Love we leave
the light we shine
in ancient halls
remembered

Do not fear
for all the signs
as sense has brought
forever
always near
the reason left
recalls the turning
seasons

What was found
beneath the stone
within the clay
now frozen
was understood
the canvas splashed
by color brushed
with Artist hands

Under cover
days defended
with words we spell
untold
feel the storm clouds
fell the oak
and raise this
understanding

Where were we

When today opened

Its door

And asked

Us to enter

Love’s season

Timelessly traced

The reason away

Turned out to wander

Alone

Summer days wanting

For winters return

While watching

Our lives

Through

Rear view mirrors

While the sun

Courses days

Through our sky

Rivers of tears

matters of the heart
lie hidden
these untruths
seldom revealed
to the light
of day
of eyes
lusting
lasting
leaving
of all the shadows
cold remains

purpose poses
as if to say
here I am
there I go
forever wandering
in time
never wondering
why we came
where we came
from and leading
to the fall
of water into
waves

eye motions
emotions beg
forgiveness of sins
signs in seasons
opening whether
the weather
the winds
and the rain
cry rivers of tears
cleansing rivers
of blood
while the soul
seeks forever’s
refrain

A fair wind

standing
at a precipice
we felt
the earth move
and there
among the clouds
we dreamed
things that mortals
seldom dare
unearthly visions
sank beneath the haze
sand slipping
into an ocean
of memories
lost in time
light filtering
to a seabed
waves (of emotion)
still flowing
even as the storm
has passed
and sails billow
again (reaching)
before a fair wind

Far From Here

She’s looking away
into a far sky
across a canyon of hope
To a place
where she knew
he would remain
even as he stood
by her side

Her dreams
and their dreams
Melting in ice falls
of tears
falling like rain
Knowing the leaving
was coming too soon
and knowing how
love was forever
As rivers flowing
and sails
on its oceans
searching
for passages home
There is no distance
in the heart
she said
and agreed
time’s return was
too soon

Memories wait
forever unfolding
new lands beheld
in the sun
and there
hearts will keep
between sheets of rain
the presence returning
in reflections of light
in his eyes

Underneath the heart

how broken shall we find
ourselves, our spirit, and soul
before we come to understanding
the choice, the sense and reason

before the dreams awakening
unfolding flower scents in love
the color of a spring in bloom
alights around an after-noon

to sit in silence wondering
at the time we came to know
the weight of all our schemes
and things, our destiny revealing

these are days to try the soul
yet what’s uncovered melts
the ice that held the heart
within, without its reasoning

Love abides

april-10-f

Counsel of the years comes to us
Beseeches weary travelers
Take stock of what was earned
and oh, the cost of it
How the shepherd’s ears are keen
to hear the braying of the lost lamb
and herd dogs pretending
to be fierce to the ewes
As if fools gathering into barns
straws cut under waning moons
and neap tides flow
with no concern for light
or a river’s run
Only essence of a dream
one hallowed night
now faded in the sun
Gourds broken, seeds slip
into soils waiting
for a winter’s passing
knowing love abides
in her Spring
