I kissed you in the morning rain
Dreaming there along the Seine
The city seemed to melt beneath
Our ray of love unending
Walked hand in hand together there
Elysian fields remembered
the Champs-Élysées’ parade of life
filled the daylight with forever
Montmartre’s steps took away our breath
and wrapped in purple twilight
Watched sunset shadows wash the streets
and paint a starry night …
While raising a Chardonnay’s soft bouquet
We toasted the City of Lights
The ages past, to all of France
Her romance, and her sights
Yes, we’ll always have Paris –
like the Seine our mem’ries will flow
Love isn’t always all that we dream
yet always more than we know …
You have captured not only the film, but the place, the time and the people so well. I really LOVE this!!! Thank you and I look forward to reading more of your work!!! Don’t think me rude if it takes me awhile to get to it though; I am full-time caregiver for the time and trying to stay sane from that. Cheers!!!
Take your time! if you do a search you can find an earlier version, this was probably the 4th re-write, but I think I finally got it all … Thank you so much …

Hugs !
A reverie- a moment in time- emotionally intelligent- love this!
I finally felt I got the images and colors right … Thank you!
…when moments stretch to hold an eternity
A lovely and enjoyable poem, Peter. Lyrical in fact…. I can imagine this set to music. 🙂
