No time to cry

Photo: Boardwalk at Bethany Beach, DE by gfs

Time is all I have to keep
And all now you’ve given up
Faded leaves are washed away
In snow melt seen turning to clay

Rivers run cold as the hills unfold
Letting down in their winter dreams
Maples will fill up-rushing again
For the sweetness of life to become

Was it hard to go with no hand to hold
at the crossroads when waking to dreams
I’ll wonder at this and a thousand things
In the days that are mine still ahead

For today you see I’ve no time to cry
No way to find all the tears
I’ll keep them for you to come when they’re due
In a place and a time left to find

The Rite of Spring

Heart to heart

There is no cure

To fires longing

Ever seeking

To know

The eyes of love

The rite of spring

Unfurled on wings

Lifted lonely aching

Barren branches

Quake to know

The wind and rain

And sun

Boughs that join

The earth and sky

Spirit holds the hand

Of life the essence

Of the dream

Rising through

A sacred cord

Rivers of tears

matters of the heart
lie hidden
these untruths
seldom revealed
to the light
of day
of eyes
lusting
lasting
leaving
of all the shadows
cold remains

purpose poses
as if to say
here I am
there I go
forever wandering
in time
never wondering
why we came
where we came
from and leading
to the fall
of water into
waves

eye motions
emotions beg
forgiveness of sins
signs in seasons
opening whether
the weather
the winds
and the rain
cry rivers of tears
cleansing rivers
of blood
while the soul
seeks forever’s
refrain

Underneath the heart

how broken shall we find
ourselves, our spirit, and soul
before we come to understanding
the choice, the sense and reason

before the dreams awakening
unfolding flower scents in love
the color of a spring in bloom
alights around an after-noon

to sit in silence wondering
at the time we came to know
the weight of all our schemes
and things, our destiny revealing

these are days to try the soul
yet what’s uncovered melts
the ice that held the heart
within, without its reasoning

Breathe in me

how soft the leaves
fall in autumn
days growing shorter
colder
the wind moves north
and the clouds
fold under the sky
in shades of grey

long nights before us
hearts left lonely
seek a warm hearth
a fire inside (the heart)
blankets of love
blankets of snow
crackling embers
memories of summer
bonfire nights
fireflies
and longings
now come to pass

alone with this moment
the clock gives up
its hands
all that was
and ever will be
becomes present
sunset and moon rise
each breath is love
inward for-giving
out for the taking
emptied of all
we’ve become

Daydream believer

IMG_1010

take what you will of me
all of my heart
my soul
my dreams
for all this
I came to give
never mine to hold
never mind your reasons
they are yours
and mine
are mine
no two the same
are we not like snowflakes
drifting from the skies
decorating winter landscapes
or blades of grass
flowing over
summer lawns
why would we ever
want to change
what shadow spilled
over our eyes
entering this dream
hidden in plain sight
the truth in being
is its own answer
there is no lust
only lost
souls
still searching
for the love
they have always
been

Sandpipers

Sandpipers

Standing in a tidal pool
In sea shells and foam
Golden sunlight
Seabirds call overhead
And Sandpipers
Dances in the ebb
And flow
Of hearts come here
To wander
Some alone
Or hand in hand
Every one a shadow
On shifting sand

Dunes flowing
Sea grass swirling
Behind fences
And sandcastles
Built in a dream
Left to the wind
And the waves
To the flowing
Of time
That lives
Beyond the sea
Beneath horizons
Becoming some tomorrow

Waves wash in
And wave goodbye
Like driftwood
Never standing still
Present tense
And past time spent
Are memories of love
Life fulfilled
Forgotten till
Clouds drift into blue
As thoughts of sometime
Meant to be
An ever after dream
